Donated Building materials helps those in need twice.

The Greater Fairbanks Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore needs your donations.........of almost any items you take out of your home. Especially needed are doors, windows, cabinets (kitchen or other) and working appliances (5 years or less). ReStore does provide donation pickup services once a week when scheduled in advance. Please contact our office at 452-1685 for more information. Also Mike Pile is our Restore Committee Chair and he can arrange an appointment to meet you at the ReStore, either to drop off donated materials or to purchase materials. We are taking quality items to stock pile while we work on the ReStore remodel. Some items are stored for use in Habitat homes while others are stored for ReStore inventory. Items that we would use for a Habitat home must be new and a type of building material that we would normally put into a Habitat home. For example, we couldn't put a donated jacuzzi tub into a Habitat home as that is not something we standardly install. Rather a jacuzzi tub would be stored with the ReStore inventory for sale once the store is open.  

The remodel project is far from finished!  Last summer (2006) eight out of town teams worked on the building donated to Habitat from Love in the Name of Christ. We didn't own it yet as it took awhile to transfer the building to us so we did things that didn't cost too much money and that we could do without a building permit (such as adding blocking, smoothing the floor, patching the roof, etc.)
